Information for producers and importers of chemicals
Important information for producers and importers of cosmetics products
The Cosmetic Products Notification Portal is now online!
In the context of the implementation of Article 13 of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council on cosmetic products, the EC will run a Cosmetic Products Notification Portal (CPNP).
All manufacturers that place cosmetic products on the European market will have to notify these products to the CPNP. The CPNP is making this information available electronically to the Competent Authorities (for the purposes of market surveillance, market analysis, evaluation and consumer information) and to the Poisoning Centres (for the purposes of medical treatment).
More information on CPNP, and in particular on how to connect, can be found in the CPNP User Manual under the 'news' section.
Estonian Poisoning Information Centre consider this European notification is sufficient and manufactures may stop declarations to the Estonian Poisoning Center and switch to the European notification.
In the past, data on cosmetic products were supplied to European Poisons centres voluntarily or, in some countries, based on national laws. In a forthcoming amendment of the European cosmetics regulation the process will be substantially harmonized.
